Learning groups
Assign learning to teams when the audience follows a reporting branch. Use learning groups to combine people and teams across branches for courses, curricula, and relevant updates.
Administrators can assign published courses and curricula directly to teams. Start with a team when the intended audience follows that reporting branch, including its subteams. Use a learning group when people need the same learning across different branches, or when the right audience is a mix of teams and individuals. A group does not change anyone's reporting team.
Learning groups can receive assigned courses and curricula and select relevant Updates for members' For you feed. They do not grant reporting access or restrict who can read published content.
Administrators manage groups in Account menu → Manage organization → Groups.
Create a group and add people
- Select Create group, enter a unique Group name, and create it.
- Open the group. On People, select Add Members.
- Under People, choose individuals. Under Teams, link reporting teams. New team links include their current and future subteams.
- Select Review changes, check the audience, and apply the changes.
A linked team supplies membership as its people or subteams change. People can belong to several groups and can be included in one group through more than one source. The Included through column shows those sources. Removing someone's direct membership does not remove them from a linked team; remove or change the remaining source if they should leave the group.
Existing team links marked Direct members only keep that narrower scope until an administrator chooses Include subteams for … and reviews the change.
Assign courses and curricula
- Open the group's Assigned Courses tab and select Assign Courses.
- Choose published courses or curricula, then select Review changes.
- Check who gains or loses an assignment and select Save assignments.
You can arrange the group's courses and curricula in a recommended order. The order guides learners; it does not lock later courses.
Removing a course from the group removes that group's assignment link. The course can remain assigned through a team, another group, or a curriculum. Saved progress and completions remain.
Select relevant Updates
Open Assigned Updates, select Assign Updates, choose published Updates, and review the change before applying it. These Updates appear in group members' For you feed. They do not create course completions or due dates. Removing an Update from the group removes this relevance source; the published Update remains in the library.
On a public installation, an administrator can select one learning group for guest recommendations under Access. Guests are not added to the account roster.
Rename or delete a group
Use the group's actions to Rename group or Delete group. Renaming keeps its memberships and assignments. Deleting removes the group and its audience links; courses, Updates, and saved learning progress remain. Groups do not use the 30-day Recently deleted recovery flow.
