Search
Search finds published Docs, Updates, and Courses, including the text of Course lessons. Use a few useful keywords, narrow by content type, and open the matching article or lesson.
Find published content
- Enter a topic in Search Fieldbook. When Ask AI is enabled, the same field is labeled Search Fieldbook or Ask AI.
- Review the matching titles and excerpts. Highlighted words help show why an item matched.
- Use All, Updates, Docs, or Courses to narrow the results.
- Select a result to open it. A Course result that matches a lesson can open that lesson directly.
Search covers published titles, summaries, article bodies, and lesson prose. It does not search unpublished drafts, learner records, or quiz answer keys. Images and spoken video content are not automatically read or transcribed; write essential information in the body if readers need to find it through Search.
Search follows the installation’s reader access rules. It searches the shared published library, including content beyond your selected audiences or assigned Courses.
Refine the query
Start with the distinctive part of the subject. For example, try discounting for discount rule requirements, or the name of a process you remember seeing.
If the result is missing or the list is broad:
- Remove words that describe the question rather than the topic, such as “where can I find.”
- Try the term an author is likely to use, or a related word.
- Choose a content type when you know you need a reference doc, an announcement, or a course.
- Check that an item has actually been published. A publisher’s saved draft is not a reader search result.
Keyword search uses up to 160 characters and 12 words. It returns up to 30 results, with a prompt to refine the query when more matches exist. There is no next page for the remaining matches; make the query more specific or change the filter.
A Course appears as one search result, using its best matching passage. Search is useful for locating the relevant lesson, rather than listing every matching lesson in the same course.
Switch to Ask AI
If your installation enables Ask AI, select Ask AI beneath the search results to ask about the text you entered. You can also open the Ask AI tab and type a question. Pressing Enter in the shared field sends a question directly to Ask AI when the text ends with a question mark.
Search gives you matching content to read. Ask AI can form an answer from the published source types your Administrator has enabled and link to its evidence. Its source selection can be narrower than the ordinary search library.
If Ask AI is off or unavailable, Search remains available independently.
Recover an unavailable search
If results cannot load, select Retry search. If your access or signed-in session changed, sign in again and repeat the search. An unavailable search is different from No results, which means the completed query did not find a match.
