Build a course
A course teaches through ordered lessons and an optional quiz. Contributors and Administrators can build and publish Courses; Administrators decide which teams or learning groups receive them as assigned learning.
Create the course
- From the Account menu, open Manage content or Manage organization, then Content. Select Course.
- Add a course title. In Details, add a Short description, choose or create a Category, and enter Estimated minutes for the whole course.
- Add a title and content for the first lesson. Select Add lesson to create more lessons.
- Select a lesson in the outline to edit it. Use Move lesson up and Move lesson down to set the order. Under Lesson actions, you can duplicate or remove a lesson. Every course must have at least one lesson.
Lessons use The editor for headings, lists, tables, links, images, and video. Each lesson needs a title and content before publication. Give lesson images meaningful alternative text; Fieldbook checks for missing descriptions when you publish.
See Card artwork to add the image people see while browsing Courses.
Add a quiz (optional)
A course can have one quiz after its lessons. Select Add quiz in the outline, then:
- Enter a Question and two to five answer choices.
- Mark at least one correct choice and one incorrect choice.
- Optionally add an Explanation.
- Select Add answer for another choice or Add question for another question.
A question can have one or several correct answers. For questions with several correct answers, learners must select all of them and no incorrect answers.
Set the completion rule
New quizzes have Require all answers correct to complete turned off. Learners must answer every question, but they can complete the course without getting every answer right.
Turn this option on if learners must answer every question correctly. They can review their results and retry. There is no percentage pass threshold.
Choose the rule before publishing. Changing it on a published course requires a new version and can affect existing learners. See Revise a published course.
Publish the course
- In Details, resolve the items under Before publishing.
- Select Publish.
The published course is available to everyone admitted to the installation. Publishing does not assign it to everyone. An Administrator can choose its audience after publication; see Course assignments. Contributors can publish courses but cannot change assignments.
